Very well protected from waves and wind. Very good holding on mud bottom 2.5/3 m. Very calm and lots of birds to observe. With the dinghy you can go to the small town of Mathews by going up the creek to the end, the last 200 meters are narrow but it is passable from 2 hours before high tide and 2 hours after. There are trash cans next to the pontoon. A very well-stocked Food Lion supermarket and reasonable prices.

You are surrounded by beautiful houses with pontoons, a very protected area away from noise, crowds and shuttles. If you want to visit St Michael's, this is the place to anchor. Coming from the south you have to go through the very small door, about 25 meters wide, very well marked, but with the current you have to go through with speed and at an angle. Ideally located when coming from the south 3 nautical miles from the entrance to the canal to wait for the current in the right direction! From Cape May it takes 52 nautical miles to get to this place. Anchorage on mud between 4 and 10 meters deep.

A tricky entrance because you have to go 5 m along a strip of sand, leave the green buoys on the port side and turn 90° to get in if you have the opposing current accelerated well in the bend to avoid getting carried away. Once inside, a vast anchorage area opposite the marina with 2/3 m of water on a very good holding mud bottom. On weekends, a bit crowded during the day. Marina Review for Front Forty Mooring Field (Annapolis City Dock)

LOA: 47'
Draft: 4.0'Rating: 5
Right in the city center!!! Organized anchorage on more than forty buoys, very tightly packed, maximum size 55ft or 16.50m. The park seems well maintained but be careful this year they have redone the moorings and a certain number of buoys have a thimble for only one end so choose carefully, the further you are in the bottom the less effect there is from the waves. The city has understood everything. There are 22 free dinghy docks to visit and move around, consult the map: https://www.annapolis.gov/176/Dinghy-Docks. Three are around the anchorage. The Harbor Master boat arrives as soon as you have taken your buoy, no reservations possible, payment by credit card or cash, $35 per night.
We had storms with swirling winds of more than 35 knots!! No worries, everyone turns, but it's tight. Possible access to showers and toilets, trash cans everywhere.
Two gas stations in the bay with diesel at $3.35 a gallon!!
There is a paid water taxi service that crisscrosses all the bays.
I recommend taking your dinghy and visiting Spa Creek and Back Creek to really understand Annapolis and its passion for boats. The town is small and very pleasant to visit.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Very nice walk around the island departing from the park office with views of the superb anchorages, fantastic beaches
Anchoring in the channel is subject to very strong current and therefore not necessarily the most comfortable
Mooring on anchor costs $0.50/ft and on buoys also $1/ft. The reservation procedure is too complicated for a buoy, it is reserved for those in the know!! I recommend contacting the Harbor Master Gerardo before arriving, very friendly and welcoming who will do everything to satisfy you as well as Gabriella at the office. Tricky entrance with south-east wind and swell, leave the floating buoy at the entrance on its port side, it is narrow but the catamarans pass. Reasonable price water and electricity (220v/60 Hz) included, non-potable water. A station with only fuel (a little expensive!) A supermarket at the exit of the estate, Chedraui, where you can find everything and a gas station right next door to refill your bottles (provide adapter tips). Possibility of doing the entry clearance but only with an agent, very expensive $400!! all costs included which comes from Cozumel. No ship or maintenance company on site.

Marina very welcoming but that's it!!!
We stayed 8 nights while visiting Cienfuegos, Trinidad and Havana, we never had water and power cuts every day for 7/9 hours...
The water service seems very special because it has a tank that fills with city water and then a pump to distribute the water to the pontoons, and even when there is electricity the distribution of 'water doesn't exist except when a rental boat needs it...
The authorities are three efficient and precise.
Concrete dock and cleat in poor condition, this is Cuba ?. Easy entry, well mapped, the anchorage is good if you anchor in the sand with grass, otherwise watch out for the patches of stones that look like sand. You can approach the island, the bottom rises very slowly. The barrier protects from the house but not from the wind.
Two things to see:
1) Go around the mangrove in a canoe to see the very impressive dead part!
2) Still with the dinghy, get closer to the barrier and go snorkeling, you understand why it is called the Queen's gardens but be careful with the "potatoes" and you should see critters with long antennae ??

On a sandy bottom approximately 2 m deep. No current and very well protected from the North East and East, crystal clear waters.
Go with your dinghy to see the plane wreck and visit the marina. The plane is only visible at low tide, so spot it well before going there, it's very nice to see it resting at a depth of 3 m and go there at slack water.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

The anchorage is excellent by NE and E, this area is deeper than the anchorage further north. Use Explorer maps which are just unlike Navionics.
The must is to go with the annex to do the "river dinghy" a little before high tide to benefit from the rising current, you enter through the middle of the island and you exit to the north, go see the sea on the side is, it's absolutely magnificent.
In the south, lots of things to do tooView location on the Waterway Guide Explorer
