The water is shallow off the channel and much of it is occupied by crab pots. The Eastham Creek at mile marker 153.7 is one of the better choices. As the forecast was for winds of 10 to 15 mph coming from several directions we did not venture back to the anchorage icon but chose to drop anchor in a clear spot equidistant from AICW Green "13" and Eastham Creek Green "1" in 10 feet of water. The anchor set immediately, held well, and came up almost clean in the morning. To our surprise, we had few issues with bugs.
We were up an out fairly early but did experience a few wakes from passing boats on the ICW that did not feel the need to slow down. Cell phone reception was very good. This is definitely not a destination anchorage but it does offer a good option for a quick overnight stop.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

We made our way in past green #3 and dropped the hook. Magnificent sunset, breathtaking moonrise, not a single other boat around. Calm, protected, good holding in thick mud. The scenery is outstanding.

We had to maneuver around many crab pots. We anchored in 8 feet of water with 55 feet of chain and our Rocna anchor held well in the mud. It's a beautiful, secluded spot. We had the place to ourselves. There was a sailboat anchored on the other side of the ICW and they might have had better wind protection. We had 4 bars on our T Mobile phones. There were lots of flies and a few hornets. The wind helped to keep other bugs at bay. We would stay here again.
