It did not turn out to be great for us. First off there were so many crab pots we had trouble finding a place that allowed us to swing without crossing over a crab pot bouy. Second, the bottom must have been soft mud based on the muck that came up on our anchor chain and anchor. Needless to say over time our anchor let our boat drift a total of about 200 yards from where we originally dropped anchor. Lucking we were alone and there was plenty of room to drag although we ended nearer to the ICW than we wanted to be and were waked by passing boats. I really think this anchorage would be a good one if the crab pots didn't limit the choice of area to drop the hook.

Entire area is packed with crab pots to avoid. Much deeper water the closer to Buck Island you can get. We saw between 8-9 feet about 40 feet from the island. Entrance is narrow and gets pretty shallow. Were met by some very inconsiderate sportfishers that didn't slow down even a little just up the ICW.

We stayed away from the banks to avoid the mosquito swarm, they still found us. There is a lot of traffic, people running the ICW. Once dusk set in, all was quiet. Real protection from S, SE. Exposed to NE, NW, W.
