Marina Review for Oasis Marinas at Fernandina Harbor

These guys were great. Easy to get to. Plenty of water under my keel. Very reasonable prices, both for dock fees and diesel. They were willing to apply my BoatUS discount.
They DO have the fancy-schmancy power supply that won't talk to my boat with it's ground-fault. (That's a work in progress.) So I had to run my generator. Facilities are clean, well-maintained, and the marina is downtown, so you can explore the cute little town of Fernandina on foot. No grocery in walking distance, though. Five stars, will stay here again.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Anchorage Review for Duplin River

My vessel has an 8 foot draft, and there are a lot of places that I just can't go, so it's always great to find an anchorage I can reach without clenching. This is not one. While the anchorage itself and it's approach have plenty of water, you have to cross Doboy Sound to get there. And while there WAS plenty of water there, it didn't always seem like it. We had to cross several spots where it was only 11 feet deep. To add to the clench factor, we had 5' seas. Once or twice we saw less than 1 foot of water under our keel, and that was a near-high-tide.
Once we got there, it was great. We had no bugs in the cockpit, plenty of water under the keel, and no other boats to compete with for swing room. We were probably about 150 yards past the ferry dock and saw no one but the ferry for two days. The anchor set on the first try, held through to pop-up showers, and came up clean and easy. We did not go ashore.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer
