Zach and Jorge and the dock staff were very friendly, there was a large group on I Dock so they had their hands full, but took the time to visit and make sure everyone had what they needed. Jorge reached out to everyone prior to our arrival and made sure we knew where we were going. It is always a good time at Skipjack, thats why we are moving marinas next season.

Everyone we interacted with at Skipjack Cove Marina was wonderful. Dockhands were friendly (although for first time visitors, their directions to the slip could be a little better), grounds were beautiful and well maintained. Bath houses were clean and fresh. The pool was wonderful... sparkling clean with plenty of tables, chairs and lounges. The View Restaurant had a great menu, reasonably priced and the food was excellent! Service was outstanding. (Our bartender, Doug was super friendly and had some great suggestions.) Overall, one of the best experiences we've had on the Bay. We will return, and we can't wait!!!

When we arrived, there wasn't anyone to assist us in our spot. The piers were not lit at night and were in bad condition for walking. The only bright spot was the restaurant.

Check in was a breeze, we docked and tied our own boat up though, never saw a dockhand until we walked to the store to ask for shower codes and wifi. I know the restaurant is separate from the marina but it would have been nice to have a breakfast option. We know for next time. I think you have yourselves two new slip renters for 2026.

We had a good time!! Love the pool and you have the best view over the river!! The restaurant is convenient, working out a few bugs but it was a VERY busy weekend, the fried chicken sandwich is amazing. The staff couldnt have been any nicer. Plenty of clean bathrooms. The walkway from the steps to the slip could use a little more lighting, especially with the unusual path and difference in elevations. The wifi was difficult to stay connected to, which seems to be typical in marinas that are off the beaten path. The transient fee was fairly priced. I cant wait to return again. Did I mention the view over the river?!?!

Marina staff were unavailable when I called Saturday evening to obtain my slip assignment. Got voicemail. Chose an unoccupied slip on A extension. Some woman who claimed she had rented that slip for next season but did not intend to put her boat there this year was angry that we were in "her" slip. She was rude to us on multiple occasions. Music played by boaters on A dock was extremely loud and vulgar. Really not an appropriate scene for our kids. Not welcoming overall.

This was our first visit here. We hadn't been this far up the Sass in almost several years. Crazy because it is so beautiful. Probably most beautiful of all upper bay Rivers.

Staff was excellent. I'm always appreciative of dock hands ready to catch lines. 3 guys helped, 2 jumped aboard(after requesting permission) and I stood there with nothing to do. I usually toss dockhands $20 for assisting with our boat, but increased it this time. We don't need the help but really do appreciate it. Manager Josh was as friendly and polite as they come. He answered my questions about the boat parade and fireworks and was just great to talk with. My wife loves the pool and how friendly the slip holders were too. We will be back next year for several overnights for sure.

Let's start out with the incompetent "dock master" took forever to find my reservation but more importantly no clue how to tie up a vessel, my slip was B-1 which is along the main gangway / walkway so the piles were cut down to just below top of the decking. Low tide when I arrived meant that these piles were dangerous to the side hull of any vessel, "dock master" (young man incompetent) yanked the stern port side line far to tight swinging the bow into & underneath the gangway on the starboard side resulting in 4 sizable gouges after my screaming & getting his attention he made an excuse that he had to attend to another vessel while we were still setting lines & hooking up power. OK that was the bad - on the good side beautiful grounds & super size hardly used pool, the web site forgot to mention the restaurant was closed till Thursday (we arrived Tuesday) The rest of the marina staff we encountered was good to great. The docks are far into there lifespan & needs a refresh. (usable)

    WG Editor Comment:
We'd like to thank this boater for choosing Skipjack Cove Marina and for taking time to provide feedback. We are sorry to read that their time on site was not satisfactory. The team member that identified themselves as a dockmaster was not in a supervisory position, and is no longer with our marina. We have connected with this guest directly on their feedback and we hope to welcome them back in the future for a remarkable experience that all boaters deserve.

Goodness Gracious! We landed in the middle of a Luau Festival and Polynesian Dance Party! We were on a 700 mile east coast trawler delivery, and ducked into the Sassafrass River to get out of a nasty east wind on the Bay, finding the marinas or a quiet anchorage to be far from the Bay. But, we were delighted to find a hard working dock hand to help us dock in the strong winds, and a party for slip owners - and they accorded us the privileges of slip owners for having docked there. It seems especially well run for the home port boats, and we were fortunate to find a transient slip.

Large and active marina with a long, easily accessed fuel and pump out dock. Marina has a pleasant staff with some lovely and well maintained amenities, including large (very clean) restrooms and showers, a good sized laundry, a nice clubhouse with a bit of exercise equipment and a great view of the river, and a very pleasant Caribbean themed dock bar and restaurant with a lot of covered outdoor seating. We transiented there for a few days during some foul weather off season and the staff was helpful and friendly. The pool looks lovely as well, but not at these temperatures. The cruise up the Sassafras, as another reviewer noted, is worth the trip. It's one of the most stunning stretches of unspoiled (and deep enough) water we've encountered. Will definitely be back.

I was a transient here for a night - my first overnight away from my home port. I was a bit perplexed by the number of empty slips in this very reasonably priced, and appealing well-kept marina. I can only attribute it to the time and motoring commitment required to reach this part of the Sassafras. That said, the cruise up the river was beautiful, but not something I'd want to do every time I wanted to hit the bay. This would also lend itself to more motor yacht traffic than sailboat traffic. The fuel dock and office are at the river’s northern bank, and the sign designating the marina as you approach is large and clear, which is good because this area is crowded with marinas. I found the fairways to be ample size for easy maneuvering and backing into the slip. The dock hand was helpful and answered many of my “first-time ‘away-from -home-port’ stay” questions. Once you are tied up after a long motor up the Sassafras, the hilltop pool is not to be missed. Spectacular view of the Sassafras, many tables with umbrellas, lounge chairs, and the bathhouse is adjacent to the pool. The bathhouse provides private rooms with toilet, sink and stall showers in each. Very clean, very nice and very air-conditioned. There is a large picnic area with grills (since I believe they don’t allow grilling on the boats near the docks). There is on site restaurant, but we didn’t dine there. The setting is nicely landscaped and shows their efforts to create the “resort” setting they advertise. The vibe while we were there was notably laid-back. (it was a Thursday in August). The area in general seems welcoming to anchoring and your dinghy to shore, since I saw many sailboats anchored out. If there was anything to gripe about, it would be the “unwalkability” of the area in general – not a fault of the marina. We couldn’t easily meander our way from this marina to a restaurant at a nearby marina via the water’s edge without some acrobatics. You could walk on the street, but then you lost the view of the water. A fee-for-service water taxi would have been nice.If I was planning a season where I intended to really explore the Sassafras on my weekend cruises, this would be at the top of my short-list as a spot to get a seasonal slip. I’d say that its location in relation to the bay is distant so if you are looking for a spot that provides quick access to the upper bay, this isn’t it. The scenic cruise up the Sassafras makes the excursion worthwhile and I would encourage it at least once.
