This can be a confusing area. Study the chart to ensure you know how to proceed. Many buoys are arrayed in front as you head south and can be difficult to see in finding the correct path.
The chart shows the path for continuing on the ICW to Morehead City and the path to Homer Smith Marina in Beaufort, NC. The red dotted line track to Beaufort, NC has 8.3 MLLW as of 5/13/2025. The blue dotted line is the Bob423 track good for 10 MLLW as of 11/12/2024. The 11/12/2024 USACE survey is shown in Aqua Map.
ICW heading south: pass R28 and R30 to starboard, G29 and the green/red junction ATON to port, and G29A to port.
ICW heading north: pass G29A, green/red junction ATON, and G29 to starboard and R30 and R28 to port.
Beaufort heading south: pass R28, green/red junction ATON, and R2 to starboard. Pass G29 to port.USACE = US Army Corps of Engineers
