DC: Upper Potomac River, Mile 109.9, Interstate 395 Bridge, Maintenance
- Date Reported: Jun 2, 2025
- Reporter: Waterway Guide
- Source: USCG District 5
- Description:
Mariners are advised that maintenance work will be conducted on the Rochambeau Memorial Bridge (I-395 HOV Bridge, Bridge No. 169-1) across the Potomac River, mile 109.9, from April 30, 2025, to April 30, 2026. The work will include fender system replacement, underwater pier repairs, and topside concrete repairs. Maintenance operations will involve two 40' x 20' sectional spud barges and two 250 HP push boats, which will remain in place on the Northeast span for the duration of the project. The presence of this equipment will necessitate a temporary 20-foot reduction in the width of the navigational channel, leaving approximately 86 feet of horizontal clearance. Due to topside repairs, the installation of temporary work platforms beneath the bridge will reduce the vertical clearance by no more than 5 feet, leaving approximately 19 feet of vertical clearance. Crews will monitor VHF-FM Channels 13 and 16. Mariners should exercise caution and adjust transits accordingly.
