- Date Reported: Apr 14, 2025
- Reporter: Ted Stehle
- Source: USCG District 7
- Description:
General/Bridges/Construction From: 2024-11-12 To: 2026-04-30 Location: 28.527349° N / 80.765526° W Bridge Name: NASA Causeway Bridges Construction continues on the new high-level bridges which is expected to be completed April 2026. The fixed navigational clearances provide a vertical clearance of 66 feet at MHW and 125 feet between the new fender system. UPDATE 3/12/2025: The installation of the fender system requires a partial blockage of the channel resulting in approximately 60-70 feet of horizontal clearance available for the passage of vessels. A 2-hour advance notice will be needed to clear channel. Orion has advised that it is preferred that any vessels requesting full navigation channel access during normal operation hours do so between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. if practical. The construction vessels on the project will monitor channels 13, 16 and Working Channel 1. Mariners are urged to use extreme caution in the area, transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake, and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made.
