Next June, the waters of Virginia will come alive with sails, salutes, and celebration as more than 60 tall ships and naval vessels from 20 countries converge for Sail250® Virginia—a signature event commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States.
From June 12–21, 2026, Virginia's coastal cities will host this extraordinary international fleet as part of the nationwide Sail250® America initiative. The Commonwealth joins the ranks of other major port cities—New Orleans, Baltimore, New York, and Boston—selected to mark the Semiquincentennial with a historic maritime showcase.
A Historic Return to Hampton Roads
Sail250 Virginia continues a proud tradition of OpSail events in the region, dating back to 1976. Once again, Norfolk will serve as the central port for 10 days of festivities, including:

In total, the event is expected to bring over 3 million visitors to Virginia and generate at least $150 million in economic impact, according to state and local officials.
