Hawksbill Cay South Anchorage
- Location: Northern Exuma
- Lat / Lon: N 24° 28.071' / W 076° 46.423'
- Depth: 8'-20'
- Tide: 2.5'-3.0'
- Description:
The anchorage is a broad expanse of water to the west of the south mooring field. Depths vary across the area and it is not uncommon to find under 30' sailboats anchored next to +150' mega-yachts. The holding is excellent and in prevailing easterly conditions there is adequate protection from the NE-SE however there is a swell that builds as the winds approach 20 knots. If winds are forecast to exceed 20 knots from any direction other than NE looking for alternate shelter is advised.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
