Waugoshance Island - Wilderness State Park
- Location: Lake Michigan
- Lat / Lon: N 45° 44.398' / W 084° 57.958'
- Depth: 10+
- Description:
Large secluded bay located off wilderness preserve. The bay slopes slowly and provides combination of rock/sand for secure anchoring. Exposed to the west and south. The water is very clear allowing you to see the bottom and anchor placement. If you are looking for privacy and quiet, this is the place. In two days, we saw two people on the beach, one in a kayak. Never heard a voice, just geese and echos of coyotes. You can dingy to sandy beaches close by. There are no cities visible, so stargazing is pleasant. However, we were able to get local radio stations and had a few bars on our cell phones.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
