Waccamaw River - Prince Creek
- Location: Waccamaw River
- Mile Marker: Mile 380.4
- Lat / Lon: N 33° 36.367' / W 079° 05.200'
- Depth: 10-30 Feet
- Description:
The north and south entrances both have approximately 15-foot depths, but neither end offers protection from ICW wash. The lower end is wide enough to warrant only one anchor, but you may need two at the upper end or narrower parts.
Quiet spot, off-the-beaten path from which to marvel at wildlife. We saw gators and plenty of birds—even a swallowtail kite. Strong current here that will keep you to center of the river, but make sure there's plenty of room around you to swing. I don't recall the current reversing here, but it stands to reason that it does. This is a place to commune with nature and admire a brilliant sky full of stars, you're not going to go ashore from here and walk the dog or find a Walmart.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
