- Description:
Crab Cay is a private island that is the home to a failed housing development. On the north side of the cay, facing into Elizabeth Harbour is a narrow bay that offers good protection during the passage of a cold front.
The anchorage is along a narrow band of sand that runs along the east side of the bay. There is room for 3-4 vessels if the vessels coordinate their anchoring carefully. There are hard spots along the ledge and care must be taken to back down on your anchor to ensure you have a good set, especially if you are seeking shelter from heavy weather.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
