Rudder Cay North
- Location: Exuma Cays
- Lat / Lon: N 23° 52.860' / W 076° 15.100'
- Depth: 6'-8'
- Tide: 2.5'-3.0'
- Description:
There is a bay on the north end of Rudder Cay that is protected from the north by the smaller Jimmy’s Cay. Many would give this anchorage a pass because the charts show very little water, however there is more water than is shown on the charts.
The anchorage offers good protection and adequate holding for an overnight stop in settled conditions, however when the winds approach 20 knots there is a surge that builds in the anchorage. There are anchorages further south along the cay that are better choices in higher winds. It is likely you will have the place to yourself.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
