Norman's Cay - Sunken Airplane
- Location: Exumas
- Lat / Lon: N 24° 35.534' / W 076° 48.759'
- Depth: 8'-10'
- Tide: 2.5'-3.0'
- Description:
The anchorage is located between the entrance to Norman's Cay Marina and the sunken C46 airplane which is located at 24°35'664'N, 076°48.581'W. It can be a bit of a jumble in that it is often difficult to distinguish between the Norman's Cay Channel which leads out to Exuma Sound and the anchorage as boats are anchored everywhere.
Despite the traffic it is a very pretty anchorage that features sweeping views of glittering turquoise water towards Exuma Sound and the famous One Tree Cay. The holding is good and there is good protection from WNW to N. It is not the best anchorage for a cold front because it will start to get choppy when the ebb tide meets the wind, but it is a better choice than getting caught on the west side of Norman's.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
